The 41-year-old, childless Anouk is chief dramaturg and writer of a television soap. She is in a relationship with Rhys, a young actor and musician, who wants to persuade her to go on a backpacker tour of Europe with him. Anouk is heavily involved with her work and her cancer-stricken mother, and is hesitant to fully commit to the relationship with Rhys. Anouk learns from her friends that Rosie has reported Harry for the slap and that the party guests are to testify to the police. Thus, Anouk is also forced to take a stand. She takes Harry's side and criticizes Hugo's behavior, which outrages her friends. Anouk feels that she is not taken seriously by Rosie and Aisha because of her childlessness.
